Plates to Pendants Jewelry Class – Debbie Meritsky
Debbie is a recycled art creator and educator with a deep passion for turning discarded items into stunning works of art. She specializes in transforming reclaimed materials into mosaics, resin art, stained glass, and steampunk-inspired creations. From teaching the art of creating vintage china jewelry to crafting custom mosaic designs, her work embodies the philosophy that art can be both beautiful and responsible. In this class students will transform pieces of vintage plates and china into stunning one-of-a-kind jewelry. Plates to Pendants will teach the art of repurposing delicate, broken and unused china into beautiful brooches, necklaces, earrings and pins. Perfect for the beginner or seasoned crafters alike. Students will be:
• Selecting and preparing vintage china for jewelry making.
• Cutting and shaping china into pendant/pin/brooch or earrings.
• Adding smooth, professional edges using specific tools.
• Designing and assembling unique pieces to wear or gift.
This class will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM with time allotted for lunch or a snack. Actual class runtime will be 3 hours. The class will be held at the Plateau Creative Arts Center.
The cost is $90 for Art Guild members and $105 for nonmembers. The cost includes materials. Payment is due at the time of registration.
