A classic rocky Maine shoreline will be the subject of this intermediate level watercolor class. Students will learn techniques to render realistic images of rocks in watercolor. Demonstrations and plenty of individual instruction by Art Guild member and award winning watercolor artist, Charlene Lehto will be provided to help students create a beautiful watercolor painting of a rocky seashore. Students should bring their own supplies. Suggested supply list: (This is a list of supplies I work with. If you are already equipped and comfortable with a palette of colors and brushes, feel free to work with those.)
PAPER: 140 lb. cold press paper in block or separate sheets. At least 9 inches by 12 inches. If you use separate sheets, bring a lightweight board to tape the paper down.
BRUSHES: ½ inch flat, 6142 Aquarelle flat or 4621 Golden Eagle, or 295 series Winsor Newton.
1 inch flat, 6142 Aquarelle, or 4621 Golden Eagle, or 985 series Winsor Newton.
#6 and # 2 round sable or sabeline. #4 rigger.
PIGMENTS: Cadmium Yellow Pale, Alizarin Crimson, Quinacridone Gold, Burnt Sienna, Ultramarine or Cobalt Blue, Cerulean Blue.
MISC: Palette with large mixing area, Palette knife – with long pointed tip, Pencils, Straight edge, Kneadable eraser, Masking tape, Paper towels, One-sided razer blade, Container for water.
