Instructor Spotlight
Twyla Marti
Twyla Marti is a mixed media and fiber artist whose work explores landscape, memory, texture, and movement through layered fabric compositions. Working intuitively with raw-edge textiles, stitched surfaces, paint, and collected materials, she creates atmospheric pieces that blur the line between fiber art and painting.
For more than forty years, Marti has studied and worked in mixed media and fiber arts, developing a distinctive process that transforms sewn fabric strips into richly textured scenes inspired by nature, travel, and personal experience. An avid hiker and traveler, she draws continual inspiration from changing landscapes, shifting light, and the emotional connection people have to places.
Her work reflects a lifelong fascination with experimentation, combining traditional fiber techniques with contemporary mixed media approaches to create pieces that are both tactile and painterly.
